Search Engine News 9-25-04
Google stock is going up ($120) per share. Current technical problems
mentioned below still remain. No fixes for almost 4 months.
Is Google building its own browser based on Monzilla?
We think the answer is yes, as the domain named www.gbrowser.com was registered
by Google in April of 2004.
Search Engine News 9-3-04
Many webmasters still frustrated with Google defects, will
Google ever fix these bugs?
Please read below for details of technical defects thousands webmasters are
complaining to Google about. Google has not done any major updates to the
backlinks and the toolbar in three months, they still are penalizing good web
sites unfairly and making terrible mistakes including indexing the wrong urls
for sites. Some of these problems seem related to Google indexing illegal
copies of stolen web content. So if some evil doers illegally copy your
content, Google may index the illegal copied web site and give the true owner of
the contents web site a duplicate content penalty. We have seen many cases
of this. Google is rubbing salt into many webmasters wounds. First
someone steals your content, then Google gives them credit for your site and
penalizes you. Then you need to hire an attorney and hope you can get
Google to index the correct web site. :(
Search Engine News 8-19-04
Google opens with mixed signals from the market.
Demand for Google stock was less then expected and the stock
went public at $85 per share.
Today Google stock quickly jumped up to $100 per share, a 15%
increase from its debut offer.
Google Technical Defects
Below we discuss and show emails describing Google current
technical problems and poor help and support. No search engine company
gives any proper or good support. Yahoo is even worse than Google and has
cheated people who paid for lifelong membership in the Yahoo Directory.
Google please do not look at other search engine companies as a model of good
customer service. Look at software companies like Mercury Interactive as a
model of how outstanding customer service should be provided.
Copy of Google emails below (edited)
Hi Joezee,
Thank you for the email.
I really appreciate it.
Many webmasters are frustrated because they do not want to do things that
Google does not like, however Google is too vague and changes what they like
or do not like too often without any warning to the webmasters.
These webmasters have good intentions and are happy to fix whatever Google
does not like if Google tells them what the problems are. I talk to these
webmasters everyday and try to help them.
If you use htpcompany.com as a case study it proves what I am saying.
For years I have had good results from Google and have been in the index.
Then 2 months ago after no changes on my part Google indexes the wrong url
for our site.
Clearly this is a Google problem, you can not index xyz.com for htpcompany.com
and
say it is my fault if I do not own this domain. This case gets even worse.
Below I show the incorrect url Google indexed for our site, and Google did
correct this. Htpcompany.com was put back in the index with the backllink of
one showing from the wrong url (see below).
Then I asked if the correct backlinks could be shown. Now Google has
dropped htpcompany.com from the index again.
Regarding gototom.com and htpcomapny.com home pages. They are Very different.
How
could you or anyone say they are the same (duplicate content). The home
pages are NOT at all the same. Please look at them again and tell me if you
agree with me. I will fix whatever you suggest and appreciate your help.
Furthermore it appears Google is deciding what pages are in the index page by
page. Some of our pages do show up as cached by Google.
The home page of www.htpcompany.com is the most important to me and should
be in the Google index. It does not have duplicate content.
I will look into your other points, however I feel indexing the Wrong url
and then fixing this problem and then dropping htpcompany.com again from the
index is clearly a Google defect.
Also you have sites like ******* , etc. in the Google index with No penalty and
tell me www.htpcompany.com deserves a penalty. I think this is very wrong
and evil.
Again I will look into your points, however gototom and htpcompany do not
have duplicate content on the home pages and I have spent a lot of time
trying delete anything that would cause Google to give us a penalty. So it
seems very strange that Google indexed the wrong url, put us back in the
index then took us out again all within a few weeks.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Tom Forrest

Editors notes - That least it is nice to receive some
response from a real person (customer service 101). From an SEO
perspective please bear in mind that Google or any other search engine company
works on solving classes of problems. So if thousands of people email
Google with the same or similar technical problem hopefully Google will
fix their defects.
Below is Google's response and our comments are in Bold.
Tom, some things to consider; it may have something to do with that fact
that you have multiple domains that appear to have substantially
duplicate content on domains such as gototom.com--what is the difference
between gototom.com and htpcompany.com?
What are your talking about, the content is totally
different. Both gototom and htpcompany home pages should be in the Google
index like they have been for years, until Google indexed the wrong urls for our
site.
There also appears to be large
amounts of cross-linking between your clients and your own sites, such
as the bottom of gototom.com?
This is not correct, you are wrong. They are only
two links to useful pages. I think you are leading us down the wrong path
and again this is a Google defect that should be fixed so we are not unfairly
harmed. It is evil to do this to good and useful web sites like ours.
I think re-reading Google's webmaster guidelines is extremely good
advice from our user support team. Given pages such as
http://www.htpcompany.com/site-map.html that appears to be
auto-generated,
Auto-generating a site map should not cause Google to
index the wrong url for a site. If a site map is manually generated or
auto generated should not matter at all.
with links to affiliates programs with anchor text such as
"
Audrey_shopping_4.htm, shopping, online shopping, home shopping, shop,
tax returns, online tax returns, taxes, stores, shopping stores, shopping
mall, telephone longdistance, recruiting, executive search, retained
executive search, consulting, business, sales consulting, marketing
consulting, charities, religion, sport (audrey_shopping_4.htm)
..
These pages are now deleted, and we do not think this caused the problem, we
believe it is simply a Google defect that has improperly penalized good and
useful web sites. We have read and received many emails about current
Google defects and problems. So even though Google may have a corporate
policy of not doing evil, it appears Google can and does do EVIL, we see many
cases of penalizing good web sites and letting Spammers and rip off artists have
a field day. This is EVIL in our opinion. Look at criminals and
spammers like www.mardox.com
, if Google wants to make the world a better place penalize spammers and rip off
con man like these guys. No Google just lets these massive spammers alone.
Why?
I think that specific guidelines on that page such as
"Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's
ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad
neighborhoods" on the web as your own ranking may be affected adversely
by those links." give good advice.

We are not doing anything wrong.
